Here we provide you with news items about projects on which GID is still working or was recently involved in.
2013 Uzbekistan: procurement advisory services will be provided to UzbekEnergo for the procurement of 1 100MW Solar Power Plant in Samarkand in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Asian Development Bank. Support will be provided to the PIU including participation in the site visit and as member of the evaluation committee.
Abu Dhabi and the Netherlands: procurement of laboratory equipment.

2012 Yemen: procurement of equipment for twenty technical and vocational schools. The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development made available a fund of USD 20 million to finance the procurement. At first a filed survey will be conducted through-out the country and the curricula will be assessed. Based on the outcome the required equipment will be defined for the eleven disciplines. The contract also includes management of the supply contracts and monitoring of the installation, commissioning and training.
Kazakhstan: preparation of a procurement strategy for the refurbishment of a bus depot and the procurement of new CNG city buses. The procurement is to be in line with the guidelines of the EBRD.
Kenya and The Netherlands: preparation of a procurement strategy for the expansion of the port of Mombasa. The future project will be financed by various international financing institutes and countries.
Abu Dhabi and The Netherlands: purchase of maintenance equipment for two workshops in the oil and gas industry.
The Netherlands: extension of an IT server platform was purchased for a client. This client provides centralised IT services to a number of companies renting facilities in an office building.
Bangladesh and The Netherlands: review of draft tender documentation for the procurement of IT equipment. The Tender documentation had to be in line with the PRAG manual. After review and chances, the tender documents passed for approval without objection by EC Delegation.

Ghana: the ORIO programme of the Dutch Government changed part of its’ implementation guidelines. From now on the country systems can be used to procure goods, works and services. In order to guarantee the principles of the ILO, OECD, etc. the country system of Ghana was reviewed and some supplementary clauses were drafted. Furthermore seven projects were advised how to proceed with their procurement. These projects are in the sectors Health, Water and Roads. |

2011 |
|
South Sudan: In 2005 the a Multi Donor Trust Fund was established. The World Bank was in the lead of this fund. As Procurement Manager our Mr Koenen was involved to manage the operation of the local office consisting of four procurement specialists and four support staff. The office was in charge of procurement for all Ministries supported by the MDTF and by the local budget. |

2010 |
|
Barbados: the National Standardisation Institute will be expanded. A contract has been issued to assist in the procurement of works (buildings), services (architecture) and goods (IT and laboratory equipment). Standard tender document will be prepared and technical assistance will be provided to prepare terms of references and specifications. |

|
Albania: a new assignment is awarded to assist the Ministry of Education and Science in the area of procurement consultancy and capacity building. |

|
|
The Netherlands: our framework contract with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is extended with another year till September 2011. |
|
|
|
Belarus: purchasing, managing of the contract and overall project management for the delivery of an annealing lehr to a producer of gas bottles. |
|
|
|
Development of a new college in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The college is to house about 500 students as interns and will have to teach them the operation of plants in the oil and gas industry. |

|
2009 |
|
Peru and The Netherlands: purchase assistance will be provided to a contractor to erect a new maintenance workshop at a liquefied natural gas plant. |

|
|
The Netherlands: a new IT server platform was purchased for a client. This client provides centralised IT services to a number of companies renting facilities in an office building. |
|
|
|
United Kingdom: the managing director of GID is selected for a procurement framework contract for the Urban Transport team of the EBRD. Missions will be decided when necessary. |
|
|
|
Peru and The Netherlands: purchase of a warehouse and racking system including a cold storage facility and lifting trucks. |
|
|
|
Abu Dhabi and The Netherlands: purchase of equipment for the extension of a workshop. In 2001 GID was already involved in the erection of the original workshop. |

|
|
Croatia: on behalf of the EBRD a procurement review was done on a tender for buses. It was decided not to continue with the tender. Subsequently GID is requested to develop new tender documents. |

2008 |
|
Swaziland: one of GID’s experts will conduct an International Procurement Review on 15 projects financed by various donors: World Bank, African Development Bank and European Commission. The review will take place in October and last for three weeks.

Uganda: in September one of our experts conducted an organisational review of the Public Procurement and Disposal Assets Agency.

Ukraine: GID has been awarded a contract for the public transport company PasTrans in Kiev. The project is financed by the EBRD and comprises:

|
The Netherlands: purchase assistance is provided to a producer of fire fighting and rescue vehicles. |

|
|
Germany and The Netherlands: an agreement was established to assist a contractor to erect a new factory in Germany. All equipment for the factory and the surrounding laboratories will be purchased with the assistance of a GID expert. The factory should be in full operation beginning of 2010. |

|
|
Hungary and The Netherlands: on behalf of a contractor a new sand plant within a foundry was purchased. |
|
|
|
South Africa: through an EC Framework contract GID is involved in the development of procurement documents and providing procurement training for the National Prosecuting Agency. The project is about the fight against human trafficking. Under the project goods need to be procured for the PIU, an the services for communication campaign and a public awareness programme. |

|
2007 |
|
The Netherlands: a framework contract is agreed upon with a Dutch company. Under the contract GID would purchase all MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operation) parts required. |

|
|
France and The Netherlands: an agreement was established to assist a contractor to erect a new factory in France. All equipment for the factory and the surrounding laboratories will be purchased with the assistance of a GID expert. The factory should be in full operation mid 2009. |

2006 |
|
Botswana: the newly established Bureau of Standards in Botswana has awarded the contract for procurement services. Under the contract goods and services have to be procured to equip the laboratories of the Bureau. A permanent representative is stationed the Bureau to provide on the spot assistance. |

2005 |
|
Uganda: on behalf of the Dutch Government a project is started at the Kyambogo University and the Makarere University. At these Universities Procurement Training Curricula are to be developed in order to train Government Officials to a Master or Bachelors degree and to provide Diploma’s. The project will last till 2009. |
